Priyansh Arya’s Record-Breaking Century Powers Punjab Kings to Victory Over CSK in IPL 2025

In a thrilling encounter at IPL 2025, Priyansh Arya made an unforgettable debut for Punjab Kings (PBKS) with a 39-ball century, the fastest by an uncapped Indian and joint-fourth fastest in IPL history. His explosive knock of 103 runs off 42 balls played a pivotal role in PBKS posting an imposing total of 219/6. Arya’s blistering assault was assisted by Shashank Singh, who remained unbeaten on 52 off 34 balls*, and Marco Jansen, who contributed with 34 off 18 balls*, guiding PBKS to a competitive total.

Arya’s performance was even more impressive considering the support he received from the fielding lapses by Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who dropped five catches during the game, including two off Arya’s bat. Despite these opportunities, Arya capitalized and powered through, bringing up his century by the 13th over, setting a new standard for uncapped Indian players in IPL history. He was dismissed in the following over by Noor Ahmad, but his fiery knock had already put PBKS in the driver’s seat.

While PBKS had a fiery start, CSK’s chase of 220 faltered due to critical moments. Although Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra made a solid start, adding 59 runs in the first six overs, CSK struggled under pressure. Conway retired out for a well-played 69 runs off 49 balls, and MS Dhoni couldn’t turn the game around despite hitting three sixes. PBKS bowled cleverly in the latter stages of the game, with Glenn Maxwell and Lockie Ferguson making important breakthroughs.

In the end, CSK fell short by 18 runs, marking their fourth consecutive defeat in IPL 2025 and continuing their poor record in chasing down targets of 180+ — a streak that dates back to 2020. Despite efforts from Dhoni and Conway, CSK’s batting order faltered under pressure, and they were left needing 49 off 13 balls when Conway retired out.

PBKS, on the other hand, were clinical in their execution, with Ferguson and Yash Thakur putting the finishing touches on a thrilling victory. With this win, PBKS has shown they are a force to be reckoned with in the tournament, and Priyansh Arya’s performance will be remembered as one of the finest IPL debuts.
