Pakistan Women defeat Thailand to qualify for the World Cup

In a one-sided affair at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, Pakistan Women outclassed Thailand Women by 87 runs in the 12th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2025. The hosts put on an all-round show, led by skipper Fatima Sana, who starred with both bat and ball to guide her side to a commanding win.

Pakistan Women Bat First – Sidra Amin and Fatima Sana Shine

Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first. Despite a slow start and early wickets, Sidra Amin anchored the innings with a solid 80 off 105 balls, hitting 9 fours in her patient knock. She held the innings together while wickets kept falling at the other end.

Captain Fatima Sana, coming in at a critical juncture, shifted the momentum with an aggressive unbeaten 62 off 59 balls. Her knock included 6 boundaries and a six, pushing Pakistan’s total to a competitive 205/6 in 50 overs.

Thailand’s bowling was economical at times, with Thipatcha Putthawong being the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/37. Onnicha Kamchomphu and Phannita Maya also chipped in with one wicket each.

Thailand Crumble Under Pressure

Chasing 206 for victory, Thailand Women never got going. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and found themselves under constant pressure from Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack.

Rameen Shamim, Fatima Sana, and Nashra Sandhu were brilliant with the ball, picking up 3 wickets each and dismantling the Thai batting lineup. Only a few Thai batters managed to reach double figures, with Nannapat Koncharoenkai top scoring with 19 runs.

Thailand were eventually bundled out for 118 in 34.4 overs, handing Pakistan Women a comprehensive 87-run win.

Captain Fatima Sana was deservedly named Player of the Match for her all-round performance. Her unbeaten 62 and three key wickets made her the standout performer and a crucial asset for Pakistan in this qualifier campaign.
