Mumbai Indians Beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 Wickets

Mumbai Indians continued their winning momentum in IPL 2025 with a commanding seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. After restricting SRH to just 143 for 8, MI chased down the target in only 15.4 overs, led by a fluent 70 from Rohit Sharma and a sharp spell from Trent Boult.

The match was effectively decided in the powerplay, where MI’s pace duo of Boult and Deepak Chahar combined to leave SRH reeling at 24 for 4 — the lowest powerplay score of the season. Boult finished with figures of 4 for 26, while Chahar chipped in with 2 for 12, setting the tone for a dominant MI performance.

Despite the collapse, Heinrich Klaasen salvaged some pride for SRH with a brilliant 71 off 44 balls, stitching a 99-run sixth-wicket stand with Impact Player Abhinav Manohar (43). Klaasen mixed power with control, playing some eye-catching shots — notably a reverse-scooped six off Jasprit Bumrah — to push SRH past the 140 mark.

However, the total was never going to be enough. Mumbai began their chase aggressively, with Rohit Sharma setting the tone with a pair of sixes off Pat Cummins and Jaydev Unadkat. Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton departed early, but Suryakumar Yadav took over with a typically clinical finish, smashing an unbeaten 40 off 19 balls. MI reached the target with 26 balls to spare.

The win marks Mumbai Indians’ fourth consecutive victory after a slow start to their season, bringing their campaign back on track. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad continue to languish near the bottom of the table with just two wins in eight games and a worrying net run rate of -1.361.

For MI, it was a night where all pieces clicked — early strikes with the ball, smart middle-over containment, and a clean, aggressive chase. Rohit’s return to form and Boult’s early breakthroughs were the standout performances, with Klaasen’s lone fight providing SRH’s only highlight.
