Islamabad United Set 144-Run Target for Peshawar Zalmi

Islamabad United posted 143 for 9 in their 20 overs against Peshawar Zalmi in the 22nd match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, held at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Islamabad started positively with openers Sahibzada Farhan and Kyle Mayers putting together a 50-run partnership. Farhan led the charge with a measured 36 off 35 balls, while Mayers contributed 18.

However, once the powerplay ended, Peshawar Zalmi tightened their grip. Ahmed Daniyal broke the opening stand by dismissing Farhan, and Mohammad Ali quickly removed Mayers, triggering a collapse.

United struggled in the middle overs as regular wickets halted their progress. Saim Ayub dismissed Agha Salman for 4, and Shadab Khan’s brief 15-run cameo ended as pressure built. Colin Munro (11) and Saad Masood (1) also fell cheaply, leaving the innings in disarray at 91 for 6.

Mohammad Ali was particularly effective, claiming 3 wickets for 26 runs. Support came from Luke Wood, Alzarri Joseph, Saim Ayub, Hussain Talat, and Ahmed Daniyal, each taking a wicket.

Despite a late flourish from Ben Dwarshuis, who remained unbeaten on 33 off 17 balls, Islamabad failed to build a commanding total. Imad Wasim added 10 before being run out by a brilliant direct hit from Babar Azam.

Peshawar Zalmi now require 144 runs to win and keep their playoff hopes alive.
