In a thrilling contest during the 17th match of IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals (DC) triumphed over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 25 runs. Batting first, DC posted a competitive total of 183/6, with KL Rahul leading the charge with a vital 77 runs. His knock, which included some powerful boundaries, capitalized on a few missed deliveries by CSK’s bowlers.
Chasing the target, CSK encountered early setbacks with the loss of key wickets in the powerplay. Vijay Shankar, who fought valiantly with an unbeaten 69* from 54 balls, couldn’t get enough support from the other end. Despite MS Dhoni‘s efforts, managing just 30 runs from 26 balls, CSK failed to keep up with the required run rate. Dhoni’s late entry into the crease couldn’t turn the game around as DC’s bowlers, led by Kuldeep Yadav and Mukesh Kumar, bowled superbly under pressure.
The slow pitch in Delhi worked in favor of the home team, as CSK’s middle order, averaging just 21.76, couldn’t capitalize on the situation. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja also fell early, leaving CSK struggling at 158/5 by the end of their innings.
With this win, Delhi Capitals continue their impressive run in IPL 2025, while Chennai Super Kings will need to regroup and come back stronger for their next match.
