Peshawar Zalmi’s decision to bowl first proved right on the money as they dismantled Lahore Qalandars for just 128 in 19.3 overs in the 14th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, held at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Lahore Qalandars never found momentum after being sent in to bat. Their top order crumbled early, with Abdullah Shafique, Asif Ali, and Daryl Mitchell departing cheaply. Sam Billings tried to stabilize the innings but could only manage 9 runs. Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi showed some resistance, scoring a quick 16 off 10 balls, including two sixes.
Rishad Hossain top-scored with 16, while Haris Rauf chipped in with 10. However, no batter could anchor the innings, and regular wickets kept the Qalandars under pressure.
Zalmi’s bowling unit shared the spoils. Aizaz Joseph and Luke Wood picked up 2 wickets each, while Hussain Talat, Mitchell Owen, and Arif Yaqoob also made key breakthroughs. Joseph, in particular, was impressive with figures of 2 for 6 in 2 overs.
The Qalandars were all out in 19.3 overs, setting Peshawar Zalmi a target of 129 runs. Peshawar’s bowlers were clinical, using the pitch conditions brilliantly and not letting any Lahore batter settle.
All eyes will now be on Peshawar’s chase as they aim to continue their winning momentum in PSL 10.
