Multan Sultans Aim to Break Final Curse in PSL 10 – Usama Mir Shares Bold Strategy

After losing three consecutive Pakistan Super League (PSL) finals, Multan Sultans are coming into the 10th edition with a fresh mindset and sharper planning. Star all-rounder Usama Mir, who has been a key performer for the team in recent seasons, expressed confidence that this time, the outcome will be different. In a recent interview with Geo News, Usama said the team has prepared well, especially considering the playing conditions in Karachi. “We’ve made solid plans keeping Karachi in mind, and hope to start our campaign on a winning note,” he said.

When asked what Multan Sultans need to do differently this time to secure the title, Usama responded, “If we make it to the final again, our priority will be to finish it before the last ball. We want to lift the trophy this time.” Speaking about his own form, Usama said he’s focused on building on his performances from the past two seasons. “My goal is to keep improving and win matches for the team through my bowling. I’ve worked hard on correcting my flaws, especially after the 2023 World Cup.”

Usama also stressed the importance of PSL for player development. “This league is a major platform—young players get recognized, and seniors get another shot at a comeback,” he said. Despite not being part of the national team currently, Usama remains optimistic. “I don’t lose hope. Cricket teaches you patience. I always try to come back better by learning from my mistakes.”

Discussing his bowling approach in T20s, he explained that he avoids unnecessary variations. “I study batters closely before every game and target their weaknesses by bowling in the right areas. That’s the key to success.” He added that leg-spinners can be real wicket-takers in T20 cricket, but only if they’re consistent with their line and length.

Usama Mir’s confidence and clarity reflect Multan Sultans’ hunger for redemption in PSL 10—and this time, they’re aiming to finish the job.
