Multan Sultans delivered a dominant batting performance in the 12th match of the Pakistan Super League 2025, setting a huge target of 229 runs for Lahore Qalandars. Batting first at the Multan Cricket Stadium, the Sultans reached 228 for 5 in their 20 overs. Yasir Khan was the top scorer with an outstanding knock of 87 runs off 44 balls, which included 6 fours and 6 sixes. Captain Mohammad Rizwan provided a solid start, scoring 32 runs off just 17 deliveries at a strike rate of 188.23. Usman Khan chipped in with a brisk 39 from 24 balls, while Ashton Turner added 15 runs. In the death overs, Iftikhar Ahmed played a crucial unbeaten innings of 40 runs off 18 balls to push the total beyond 220. Kamran Ghulam also remained not out with 3 runs.

On the bowling side, Lahore Qalandars had a tough time containing the run flow. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Asif Afridi, and Rashid Hossain picked up a wicket each, but all went for more than 9 runs per over. David Willey and Zaman Khan were economical early on but couldn’t take wickets when needed. The Sultans scored 61 runs in the last five overs to give themselves strong momentum heading into the second innings.

Lahore Qalandars now require 229 runs to win from 20 overs. It will be a challenging chase on a high-scoring surface, and they will need a strong start from their top order to stay in the contest.
