Peshawar Zalmi secured a commanding six-wicket win over Islamabad United at Gaddafi Stadium in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, handing United their second loss of the tournament. The victory was shaped by a composed half-century from captain Babar Azam and a sensational debut knock by Maaz Sadaqat.
Chasing a target of 144, Zalmi faced early setbacks, losing Mitchell Owen and Saim Ayub cheaply. Babar Azam then anchored the innings, first partnering with Mohammad Haris for a brief 26-run stand, followed by a match-defining 100-run partnership with debutant Maaz Sadaqat. Maaz impressed with 55 off 33 balls, while Babar remained unbeaten on 53 off 49 deliveries.
Earlier, Islamabad United, after choosing to bat, posted a below-par total of 134-9. Sahibzada Farhan and Kyle Mayers gave them a strong start with a 50-run opening stand. However, a middle-order collapse triggered by Ahmed Daniyal, Mohammad Ali, and Luke Wood saw them stumble from 50-0 to 124-8. A late cameo by Ben Dwarshuis (33* off 17) was not enough to push the score to a competitive level.
Zalmi’s all-round performance with both bat and ball, including sharp fielding and Babar Azam’s direct-hit run-out of Imad Wasim, sealed the win in just 16.5 overs.
