Quetta Gladiators’ formidable bowling attack dismantled Multan Sultans, restricting them to a meager 89 runs in 17 overs during the 18th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday. After being asked to bat first, Multan suffered a severe collapse early in the innings. Yasir Khan was the first to fall, dismissed by Khurram Shahzad for just 5 runs in the first over. Shahzad then struck again in the same over to remove Usman Khan for a second-ball duck, putting Sultans under intense pressure at 7-2.
Khurram Shahzad continued his fiery spell, taking two more wickets in his next over by dismissing Kamran Ghulam (3) and Curtis Campher (4), leaving Multan reeling at 20/4 within 4 overs. Captain Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed tried to stabilize the innings briefly, but Faheem Ashraf soon removed Iftikhar for 6 and later dismissed Michael Bracewell for a duck, reducing the Sultans to 43/6.
The collapse continued as Mohammad Wasim Jr. removed David Willey for 9, while Rilee Rossouw’s sharp fielding ran out Usama Mir for 11. A brilliant throw from Hassan Nawaz then led to a run-out of Mohammad Hasnain for just 2. Despite his efforts, Rizwan’s gritty 44 could not prevent the inevitable, as Wasim Jr. dismissed Ubaid Shah to end the innings at 89 in 17 overs, with three overs still remaining.
Khurram Shahzad was the star of the show, finishing with incredible figures of 4 wickets, while Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Wasim Jr. took 2 wickets each. The Gladiators now need just 90 runs to secure a convincing win and boost their standing in the tournament.
