In a gripping encounter at Lahore, the West Indies Women’s team secured a narrow 3-wicket win over Bangladesh Women in the 11th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2025. The win came with 24 balls to spare as West Indies successfully chased down the target of 228, finishing on 228/7 in 46 overs.

Earlier, Bangladesh posted a competitive total of 227/9 after opting to bat first. Sharmin Akhter played a brilliant knock of 67 off 79 balls, supported by Fargana Hoque (42) and Nahida Akter (25). Despite a solid start, Bangladesh struggled to maintain momentum due to disciplined bowling from West Indies. Aaliyah Alleyne was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 crucial wickets for just 39 runs in her 9 overs, and was later named Player of the Match.

In response, West Indies showed depth in their batting lineup. Chinelle Henry anchored the chase with a well-paced unbeaten 51 off 48 balls, while key contributions came from Hayley Matthews (33), Stafanie Taylor (36), and Shemaine Campbelle (24). Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the West Indian batters held their nerve to finish the chase.

Marufa Akter impressed with the ball for Bangladesh, taking 2 wickets for 38 runs, while Ritu Moni and Nahida Akter also chipped in with a wicket each. However, the total proved just below par on a decent batting surface.

With this win, West Indies collected important points and moved one step closer to World Cup qualification, showcasing a strong all-round performance.
